Swansea City - Manchester City Betting: Why backing Pellegrini's men to strike early could prove profitable

Garry Monk's Swans are aiming towards Europa League qualification, but our tipster is backing the visiting side to take an early lead at Liberty Stadium on Sunday

Swansea City moved to within two points of Tottenham in the battle for a Europa League qualification spot with an impressive 1-0 win over Arsenal on Monday night.

This weekend, Garry Monk's men face another tough test in the race for Europe when they play host to Manchester City on Sunday.

The Swans can be backed at 7/2 (4.50) with William Hill to follow up on their win over the Gunners by beating Manuel Pellegrini's men, while the visitors are chalked up as a 7/10 (1.70) chance with the same firm to take full points from Sunday's showdown. The draw is rated as a 3/1 (4.0) chance by William Hill.

Striker Bafetimbi Gomis came off the bench to score the winning goal for the Swans in north London on Monday night and the 29-year-old front man, who has four goals in his last four games for Monk's men, is available at 15/2 (8.50) to break the deadlock on Sunday.

Swansea's Icelandic midfielder Gylffi Sigurdsson started Monday's match against Arsenal in an advanced role and, should Monk employ the same tactics for the visit of Manchester City this weekend, then there could be value in backing the 25-year-old star to find the net first at a juicy 9/1 (10.0) with William Hill, while the same firm go 23/10 (3.30) that the former Tottenham Hotspur man scores at any time.

One man, though, who is sure to pose a significant threat to Swansea's hopes this weekend is Manchester City's in-form striker, Sergio Aguero.

Aguero is the Premier League's top scorer this term with 25 goals and the Argentina international has scored eight goals is his last five appearances for Pellegrini's side - including a hat-trick in his side's 6-0 demolition of Queens Park Rangers last weekend.

Punters, therefore, may be tempted to snap up the 100/30 (4.33) quote for Aguero to strike first on Sunday, while the 4/5 (1.80) quote from the same firm for the Argentine to score at any time looks to be a solid selection here.

It is worth noting that Swansea have scored in 17 of their 20 home matches in all competitions thus far this term, while Manchester City have failed to score in just one Premier League away match so far this season
